Qigong According to Qigong theory, Qi encompasses air and internal Qi, or true Qi, which includes essential Qi or vital energy. Qigong combines movement, meditation, and breath regulation to enhance the flow of vital energy in the body, improve blood circulation, and enhance immune function. It is the practice of refining the body through special exercises and meditation. One view of qigong is a set of breathing and movement exercises, with health benefits through stress reduction and exercise. Another view is in more metaphysical terms, claiming that breathing and movement exercises can influence the fundamental forces of the universe. In China, it is estimated that 200 million people practice qigong everyday. Because qigong can be used by the healthy as well as the severely ill, it is one of the most broadly applicable systems of self-care in the world. |
