The Emotionally Abusive Relationship : How to Stop Being Abused and How to Stop Abusing

by Beverly Engel

I recommend reading it yourself,  giving it to your partner to read, then discussing it in terms of your own relationship. It has all the information needed to turn around and even save an abusive relationship. Even if it is not possible to read it as partners, buy it and learn from it yourself. I think you will be glad you did.

Most abuse publications are written for the person being abused. Beverly Engel writes for both the abused and the abuser and then reveals the way out of the abusive relationship for both sides.

She defines emotional abuse as “any non-physical behavior designed to control, intimidate, subjugate, demean, punish, or isolate." Anyone who has ever been in any relationship has been there–and on both sides of the fence.

The author, a relationship/abuse therapist and an internationally recognized writer,  teaches us how abuse starts, how to stop abuse to ourselves, and how to stop abusing others.
