Climate and Local Conditions in Green Building

The different climates of the United States require different strategies for designing and building homes. What works in Chicago is often wrong for Dallas or San Diego. Different factors that must be considered when building a home are the area's:

Climate of Dallas-Fort Worth

North Central Texas (Dallas Fort Worth) is in Zone 3 
but it is on the cusp of the warm, humid area of the United States.

All of Alaska in Zone 7 except for the following Boroughs in Zone 8: Bethel, Dellingham, Fairbanks,  N.Star, Nome North slope, Northwest Artic, Southeast Fairbanks, Wade Hampton and Yukon-Koyukuk

Zone 1 includes: Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands
