Codes

There are a lot of reasons to use codes. The government uses them to keep secrets from a country's enemies. Large businesses use them  to keep other companies from stealing their ideas and products. Even internet companies need codes to keep credit card numbers safe when you buy something over the internet.

Most codes are used to keep secrets. Moreover, you can use your code to keep a secret, too, or just to write your grandparents a neat letter in code.

Print out this page, then write someone a note or letter using the code. Mail the code and the letter to them. They will have to decipher the code to read your letter.

a=6 b=2 c=3 d=5 e=4 f=7 g=8 h=9 i=10 j=99 k=12 l=13 m=88 n=15
o=16 p=77 q=18 r=19  s=20 t=66 u=22 v=55 w=24 x=44 y=33 z=26

Directions: Write the number that stands for the letter you want to use. Use one complete number per space. Write on every other line so the person who receives your letters can decipher the code below your writing and read your letter. To make it easier to read, remember to leave a blank space between words and use a space for each comma, period, question mark, etc.
