The PV modules should
not be obstructed by trees, roof gables, chimneys, adjacent building or
any other features of your home, yard, and/or neighborhood. Even when sites are
sunny during part of the day and shaded for others, the shading may
substantially reduce the amount of electricity that your system will
produce. For example: Even as item as small as a chimney can adversely affect the amount of sun available to produce electricity for you. An interesting project is to watch the parts of the roof your chimney or other items shade at different times during the day. You will probably be surprised. However, this will not necessarily stop you from using solar power. Again, the advice of a professional is needed here.
