Production of Hot Water
In a home or building which uses electricity to heat water,, the average home for four residents in Texas uses 25% of power consumption to heat hot water. In a home which uses gas to heat hot water, the average home for four residents in Texas uses 18% of power consumption to heat hot water.
This graph assumes heat and hot water are both gas powered in the gas- electric home. Also, remember that an all-electric building has higher overall utility bills than a gas-electric building, all other things being equal.
