A cold swimming pool
offers no family entertainment and no return on your sizable investment
because it is rarely used.
Yet heating a pool with electricity, natural gas, or propane makes
inroads into your wallet most of the year.
Solar heating of pool water is a very simple cycle. It uses your existing pool pump to circulate water through the many small passages of the solar collector where the water is warmed by the sun. This heated water flows directly back to your pool, warning it a few degrees with each cycle. This continues until your pool reaches the temperature that is ideal for your family's comfort and enjoyment.
Heating your pool with solar almost doubles your swim season--maybe more, if you also use a pool blanket.
Although solar pool panels are prone to small leaks, the maintenance is not difficult. However, they generally do not last as long as solar hot water or solar PV, and are not as maintenance free.
Water for the pool can be collected with rainwater harvesting.
