Glossary

Maintenance should be minimal .After all, the only mechanical moving part on your solar system for pools is the diverting valve.

However, there is other movement. The solar panels will expand and contract from heating and cooling while on your roof.

It is important to choose a panel manufacturer that uses the same material throughout the solar collector.  You want every part of the panel to expand or contract at the same rate or you will have leaks.

Solar pool panels are tough. Yet, hail is tough, too, particularly in North Texas in the spring and fall.

Maybe the most annoying part of maintaining your solar pool heating syster is the small leaks. Solar pool panels are prone to small leaks in the panel itself. These small leaks are easily repaired. However, they will require attention either by the homeowner (who may or may not want to service a rooftop installation) or by a pool company.  Like all outside maintenance, a service call is expensive.
