Complementary Medicine Holistic Health Terms Defined Holistic Health
Alternative and complementary medicine terms defined. Holistic health theories defined. Holistic Health Holistic health is best defined as an approach to life. In addition to preventing and treating illness, holistic health focuses on reaching higher levels of wellness. Holistic health, then, is an ongoing process. Even when no illness is present, the individual is making lifestyle choices–physical, mental, environmental, social, nutritional, and spiritual choices–that lead to even better health. With holistic health, no matter what the present health of a person, and regardless of health setbacks, the goal is to move toward better health in body, mind, and spirit. When illness or chronic conditions do occur, holistic principles are applied. The term used then is Holistic Medicine.
