Diet and Weight Control are Not Total Cardiovascular Fitness.
Fitness: Even with a diet of lean meat, chicken, fish, and 2% milk plus an exercise program, heart and cardiovascular disease was rarely stopped. It usually went on to gradually kill the patient.

Dean Ornish, MD Pioneer in Reversing Heart Disease. Exercise and weight control are only two aspects of cardiovascular fitness.
By Pam Gordon
Dr. Dean Ornish proves that exercise and weight control are only two aspects of cardiovascular fitness. You exercise regularly. You control your weight. You are fit. Right?
Maybe. Maybe not!
A revolution took place in medicine on July 21, 1990. On that day the prominent medical journal The Lancet published the findings of a young, Harvard-educated doctor, Dr. Dean Ornish. Dr. Ornish demonstrated that vascular disease can actually be reversed with medicines.
Although heart and vascular diseases were the most common cause of death then, and still are, most doctors were not even attempting to reverse the diseases.
Doctors believed that the plaques of cholesterol and other substances that clog the arteries to the heart, brain, and genitals could not go away. When they got too severe, the patient was sent off the hospital for a bypass or angioplasty.
Even with a diet of lean meat, chicken, fish, and 2% milk and an exercise program, cardiovascular disease was rarely stopped. It usually went on to gradually kill the patient. The patient was urged to adopt a diet of lean meat, chicken, fish, and 2% milk and an exercise program. Unfortunately, with this dietary regimen and even with exercise, heart disease was rarely stopped. It usually went on to gradually kill the patient.
In his revolutionary experiment, Dr. Ornish proved that if a more potent diet was followed, along with other lifestyle changes, plaques would not only stop growing, they would actually start dissolving.
The work of Dr. Ornish and other forward-thinking researchers has made previous diet recommendations obsolete, although some doctors seem to have missed that message.
Dr. Ornish has written several books that explain his program for reversing heart disease. CyberParent recommends five books by Ornish, starting with the book Dr. Dean Ornish’s Program for Reversing Heart Disease. You might also choose one of the two cookbooks CyberParent recommends: Eat More, Weigh Less which is predominantly a cookbook or Everyday Cooking with Dr. Dean Ornish.
Last, but certainly not least, read one of the books on love, intimacy, and health.
And remember: Stroke, hypertension or high blood pressure, and impotence are vascular diseases, also. Dr. Dean Ornish’s Program for Reversing Heart Disease: The Only System Scientifically Proven to Reverse Heart Disease Without Drugs or Surgery by Dean Ornish, MD
Once a voice in the wilderness, Dean Ornish is now an accepted authority, if not the accepted authority, in medical schools throughout the country. His program is scientifically validated to begin reversing even severe coronary heart disease without using cholesterol-lowering drugs or surgery. This book is a new understanding of heart disease in terms of diet and lifestyle. It is the first book you should buy if you are concerned about your heart. Complete with recipes for your new life!
