Xeriscape, Glossary, Green-Built, North Texas, Green Buiding, Central Texas, Green Homes, Green Builder, Energy-Efficient Houses

Xeriscaping refers to landscaping of property in ways that require little-to-no supplemental irrigation.

Plants are chosen with natural requirements appropriate to the local climate.

Plants with similar watering requirements are grouped together.

Care is taken to avoid losing water to evaporation and run-off through mulching.

Since Xeriscape is a registered trademark of the Denver water department, other terms have been coined to describe this method of landscaping such as smartscaping, drought-tolerant landscaping, and zeroscaping.
