Our wallets would be a lot more comfortable if the goods we used in remodeling were not only durable but had multiple uses.

Durable goods are those that have a long, useful life. They are not always the cheapest; they are not even always the most attractive. But are important because green is durable.

More and more Americans are seeing the writing on the wall. We need to buy durable because we may not have as much disposable income in the future as we did in the past.

And goods produced using fossil fuels (almost everything these days) will continue to go up in price.

A second cousin to durability is dual or multiple use. An air-conditioning system might be the perfect example of multiple use.

What is the or purpose of air-conditioning in a Dallas-Fort Worth home?

It is comfort, of course. It blows cool air on the hot bodies of North Texans.

But that’s not all our air-conditioning system does. It also removes humidity to keep us comfortable at higher temperatures. And it filters the air in our home and keeps us healthier.
