Sometimes what we don’t want to hear is exactly what we need to hear. Most of the time the ruts we experience are caused by our unwillingness to change the way we think and the way we live our lives.
If you feel that you are running circles around your life and getting nowhere, here are some life truths you need to hear:
The Past Doesn’t Equal the Future
In life, we often base the decisions that we make on similar decisions we’ve made in the past and the consequent outcomes that we’ve experienced. This leads to a fear of failure.
If you’ve experienced a lot of hurt or rejection in the past you are going to be less likely to go on and pursue your dreams, take risks and do the things you really want to do.
You need to get out of that rut by shifting your perspective off the past and onto the future. Think about your goal and then break it down into manageable steps. Keep moving forward.
You Are Not Broken
No one is wrong or broken. Many people believe that they are victims and this limiting belief is what holds them back and prevents them from reaching their dreams and goals.
Maybe you have thought of yourself or even labelled yourself a “victim” when, in truth, you are merely vulnerable. Vulnerability is not weakness; it is the uncertainty and emotional exposure we face on a daily basis. However, we too often allow those things to define us.
You need to recognize and accept how ‘unbroken’ you actually are and realize that there’s potentially nothing that you can’t go on to achieve in life.
Everything is Achievable
If one person can do something, it is possible to model it and teach it to others. Therefore, everyone can learn to get better results in their own way. We all have the ability to do all things, all of the time.
The only thing that’s holding you back from doing the things you really want to do in life is the appropriate strategy. By eliciting the appropriate strategy, anything is achievable.
If you have a dream or a goal, and a clear vision, you can take action to reach it. It is possible.
Empowerment Comes Via Responsibility
Many people live completely disempowered lives because they haven’t taken full responsibility for their lives. Although bad things do happen in life, you always have a choice as to how you act and respond to your circumstances.
When something bad happens you have three choices. You can let it define you, let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you.Dr. Seuss
You have to develop an inner resilience so that you no longer allow circumstances to “crush” you but instead push through to achieve your dreams and goals.
There is No Such Thing as a Bad Intention
Although some people will do some crazy things in life that we will never understand, it is important to understand that individuals will always make the best choice they can according to the information they have available to them at the time.
An individual is not always their behaviour. When a person becomes aware that there’s a better choice of behaviour that will also achieve their positive intention, they’ll take it.
You must understand what your intentions are and how to adjust your behaviour positively. This means applying all of these truths to make decisions that will move you forward and taking responsibility for our thought processes and reactions.
