Healthy Living Starts with Positive Thinking

If you, like many others, believe that you lack the strength and power to achieve your goals then you will find reaching them extremely difficult. This pattern of negative thinking will hold you down.

However, you can gain motivation and live a more healthy life by simply telling yourself:

“I can do it.”

It may seem easier said than done but you CAN do anything you put your mind to.

How do I tell myself that I can do it?

You can be in control of your thoughts, actions and behaviours by building power over your mind.

Today, tell yourself you are going for a short walk. Or tell yourself you are going to eat at least one salad or drink an extra glass of water. Tomorrow, tell yourself you are going to walk a little longer or that you are going to drink another extra glass of water.

If you let your doubts get in the way, then you will never keep walking or keep eating healthy. These negative reflections will defeat the purpose of getting your thoughts in control.

Negative reflections include doubting if you are capable of reaching your goals and convincing yourself that you will complete these tasks later.

Take Control of Your Thoughts

If you want to do something bad enough, you will do what you have to do to get where you want to be. You need to make a goal to live a healthier life and stick to it.

Create plans that help you to reach your goal, whether it be to increase your activity level or eat healthier foods. Take action each day to achieve these goals.

When you give up it often means you lack faith in yourself and have allowed negative thought patterns to take control.

Building a Positive Attitude

Having a positive attitude is not something you will simply wake up with. You have to build it by pushing yourself through those everyday actions you need to perform to reach your goal. A positive attitude will result from those small victories.

Keep on pushing. Do not stop once you get started – when times get hardand you don’t think you can go on just remember those four little words:

“I can do it.”

Don’t dwell on the things you cannot change and focus on the things you have power to change.

Riding the Wave of Positivity

In order to stay positive, you have to be open and expressive about your feelings. If you feel depressed or frustrated, just say it out loud. There is nothing wrong with showing emotions in healthy and constructive ways.

Talk to a close friend, write in a journal or simply look in the mirror. Talk about your struggles but also talk about your triumphs. Allow yourself to feel proud of what you have accomplished.

If you are feeling depressed and frustrated, don’t blame yourself but try to figure out why. Failing to uncover your intentions and reasons will reduce your control, especially if you do not understand what you need or want.

Find Your Positivity in the World

Becoming self-motivated can be difficult so it is okay to turn to others for help and inspiration. Look for a good role model and become acquainted with their way of thinking positive.

Seek support from friends and family. Practice positive self-talk when speaking to others. Avoid the negative talk.

Reward yourself when you achieve your goals. Treat yourself to a spa night or take yourself out to a movie. Gather your friends and celebrate the major milestones of your journey to a healthier life. Inspire others.

Let Yourself Feel Good

Just remember that you can do whatever you want to do – keep your mind set for the good things and not the bad things.

This will make you feel better and make you a happier person. If you’re happy, you will have a healthier life.
